These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of The Wheels Project ("We, Us, Our") website http://wheelsproject.org.uk/(the "Website")'.  By using the Website you are indicating your acceptance of these Terms.  We may change the Terms at any time by putting amended Terms on the Website.  If you do not accept these Terms please do not use the Website.

Prohibited Uses

The Website must not be used in a derogatory manner or in any manner which may adversely affect Our reputation.

You may use the Website only for lawful purposes.  You may not use the Website:

  • in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
  • in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent, or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;
  • to send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use or re-use any material which does not comply with these Terms.
  • to transmit, or procure the sending of, any solicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam); or

  • not to access without authority, interfere with, damage or disrupt any part of the Website, any equipment or network on which the Website is stored, any software used in the provision of the Website; or any equipment or network or software owned or used by any third party.

Hacking and Offences

You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, the server on which the Website is stored or any server, computer or database connected to the Website.  You must not attack the Website via a denial-of-service attack of a distributed denial-of-service attack.

By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.  We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them.  In the event of such a breach, your right to use the Website will cease imediately.

We will not be liable for any loss or damage caused by a distributed denial-of-service attack, viruses or other technologically harmful material that may infect your computer equipment, computer programmes, data or other proprietary material due to your use of the Website or to your downloading of any material posted on it, or on any website linked to it.

We are the owner of the licensee, as the case may be, of all intellectual property rights in the Website.  This includes, without limitation, trade marks, copyright, database rights, rights in designs, rights in know-how, patents and rights in inventions, whether registered or unregistered.

The information and images contained on the Website are the property of Us or Our licensors and are protected by copyright laws.  All software used on the Website is the property of Us or Our software suppliers and is protected by copyright laws.  The content of the Website may not be distributed, modified, reproduced in whole or in part without Our prior written permission.

You acknowledge and accept that your use of the Website does not confer any title or right of ownership to the Website or the underlying software or databases, or any part of it, nor any intellectual property rights to or with regard to the Website, underlying software or databases.

Our status (and that of any identified contributors) as the author of material on the Website must always be acknowledged.

You may not use any data gathering or data extraction tools, such as robots, on Our Website without Our prior written permission.

Changes to the Website

We aim to update the Website regularly, and may change the content at any time.  If the need arises, We may suspend access to the Website, or close it indefinitely.  Any of the material on the Website may be out of date at any given time, and We are under no obligation to update such material.

We will determine your use of the Website, at Our discretion, where there has been a breach of these Terms through your use of the Website.  When a breach of these Terms has occurred, We may take such action as We deem appropriate.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England.  Any dispute (including of a non-contractual nature) arising under these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

Method

An integrated learning facility combining basic mechanical theory with the repair and maintenance of a car and driving practice in the Project's dual controlled car.  Plus input covering the legal requirements for vehicle use on the highway, Highway Code and hazard awareness.

Teaching Aids

  • Basic workshop tooling and equipment.
  • The Project's dual controlled car.
  • DSA Theory Test and Hazard Awareness Training DVDs.

Safety Clothing

Overalls, gloves and safety boots - all provided by The Wheels Project.

1 x 2 1/2 hour session a week over 2 terms (12 weeks).

Transport

Transport of students is not provided by The Wheels Project.

Qualifications

Driver Theory Test

Groups

  • Groups will be pre-formed by the referring organisation.
  • Group size is restricted to a maximum of 8 students.
  • Wheels does not have more than 1 group of students at its centre at any one time.
  • New students can start up to and including week 2 but no later.
  • A Risk Assessment on students must be completed by Key Workers before the start of the course - those with a  history of violent behaviour are excluded from Wheels' programmes.  Failure to submit a formal assessment will lead to delay and forfeit of sessions.

Criteria for Selection

Students' behaviour should be causing concern to group leaders and exhibit at least three of the following factors:

  • aged 16 - 24
  • anti-social behaviour
  • poor educational record
  • truanting
  • exclusion from school
  • criminal record

Intake Dates

Groups attend The Wheels Project without the presence of others to reduce distractions and aid concentration.

Intakes for groups occur at the start of each academic term.
