Talk to Orchard School Students by Bristol Reconnect

This morning we welcomed 3 members of Bristol Reconnect to Wheels who made a passionate plea for a vehicle to the students from Orchard School who are currently undertaking our CV Programme.

The charity, which started from nothing 3 years ago, is helping people who are homeless or have histories of substance misuse to get back on their feet through the delivery of life skills programmes delivered at their current site in Easton.

The 3 representatives gave a brief and harrowing history of their own lives. They described their commitment towards helping people who are experiencing similar difficulties get out of the cycle of homelessness, crime and substance misuse with the opportunity to gain support and develop skills in their café where they will be able to develop life and catering skills.

The students listened intently and expressed their shock at just how difficult these peoples’ lives had been and applauded the efforts they were making towards changing the lives of others.

There was unanimous support to prepare a vehicle for Bristol Reconnect which will be used to transport food and members around the city.

The students will visit their kitchens next term.
