A Van for Yate and Chipping Sodbury Foodbank - July 2014

On 11 July our group from Work2Learn, made up of students from Marlwood, Chipping Sodbury, The Castle and Abbeywood Schools who were completing their Community Vehicle Programme, handed over their vehicle to Yate and Chipping Sodbury Foodbank.

Robert Vernon, Foodbank Project Manager, stated, 'With 31,000 meals provided in the last year to local people in short term crisis from three distribution points and six stock locations, the transport of stock is a major problem.  Foodbank also has to collect food from supermarkets, businesses and churches and depends on volunteers using their own vehicles.  The gift of a van will allow all of this to be professionally managed.  The Foodbank Team cannot thank the young people and the team at The Wheels Project enough for their hard work and generosity'.

The van had been given to The Wheels Project by Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

This course had been funded by the Henry Smith Charity.
