Royal Visit to Mark our 30th Anniversary

Royal VisitThe Board and Staff of The Wheels Project were delighted to welcome HRH The Duke of Gloucester to The Wheels Project on Friday 26 November to help celebrate our 30th Anniversary.

Also in attendance were The Lord Lieutenant

of Bristol Mary Prior, Bristol High Sheriff Peaches Golding, Bristol East MP Kerry McCarthy, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Bristol (Councillor Colin Smith and Alderman Judith Price), Funders, Referrers and past and current Students.

The Duke was given a tour of the workshops where he met some of our students from South Gloucestershire's Work 2 Learn Programme, The Meriton, Merchants' Academy, the Whitehouse Centre and KTS who were assembling karts, maintaining mopeds, servicing cars and learning in the classroom.

After the tour everybody assembled in our main classroom to listen to speeches from His Royal Highness and the Chair of our Board, ACC Rod Hansen.  The Duke unveiled a commemorative plaque and was presented with a 'nutty man' (made by our Deputy Manager, Richard Twentyman) by one of our students, Jordan Moore.  In the photo below Jordan is showing the 'nutty man' to our Chair, ACC Rod Hansen.

We had a great day!  Thank you to everybody who made it such a success.
